We’ve all found ourselves both reflecting on our past experiences, while hoping for a better future during what has become of wild ride of 2020. I realized with a sense of wonderment, that it was ten years ago when my friend Elaine Culotti, a designer who gave me my first job in interiors, invited me to join a team of talented people to create the Esquire 2010 Design showcase house. While our concept was to deliver “The Ultimate Bachelor Pad,” we were also part of the larger team pulling together to raise money for OxFam, Oceana and International Medical Corp. The sense of camaraderie among the designers was one of support, open ideas and helping one another. With so much construction going on at once, it was only with supreme coordination and cooperation; all supervised by the even-handed expert builder, Lanny Hoover, that allowed us to achieve the exciting end result. At a time of serious polarization in the world around us today, I am proud to say that we were guided by a shared compass, shooting for the stars of our common goal. Indeed we celebrated under the clear skies of the Fall season, our combined efforts and our global concerns. Steven Jacoby and Dawn Sheggeby (Esquire) welcomed us like family into the project. The energy, charm and encouragement that they Imparted behind the scenes, made us all bring our best work with confidence. Tina Seiler was instrumental in securing our product sponsors, and we most certainly could not have succeeded without her careful bidding. Our dedicated crews and installers were pushed to the max, and worked diligently to make our individual and collective vision come alive. Shout out to all my fellow designers, artists and craftsman! Happy Anniversary!
